The peace symbol was designed by Gerald Holtom in 1958 for the British nuclear disarmament movement. Since then, it’s been used for just about everything from anti-war protests, civil rights, environmental movements to a lot more. This month is mostly about nature, progress, and the people who have pushed back when the two don’t get along. It felt hard to talk about any of that without eventually running into this symbol.
Unfortunately, we’re clearly still working on the nuclear disarmament part.
